NerdLacquer is my favorite indie polish, hands down, bottom line. Everything Amanda's ever put out is just gorgeous. So when she disappeared out of the polishverse (yes that's a word I'm using, shut up), we all worried and fretted. But fortunately for all of us, Amanda is coming back soonish according to her Google+ page. So no, I'm not just taunting you with a NerdLacquer that you can never have.
Entirely Unlike Tea is my favorite nail polish for an interview. I've got loads of them coming up, and I want to wear something that says that I'm a professional lady but doesn't compromise my personal style. So I bust out this. It's a lovely milky tea nude with some silver and black glitter in it. Not loads, just enough subtle sparkle that says "yeah, I'm wearing a nude, but it's a sassy ass nude".
Sassy ass nudes. Here's hoping I get a job soon! (And yes, I'll keep this polish in rotation, even when I do have a job and don't need to impress every day.)

Nail MADNESS: Gorramit!

If you don't know that I love NerdLacquer by now, clearly we don't know each other and you're a weirdo. Recently, Amanda, the genius mixologist there came out with a Firefly set of polishes. I had to get Gorramit, a gorgeous yellow with red hex glitter and fine gold and black glitter. My boss said it reminded her of Chinese New Year colors, and I totally agree.
See? That is just gorgeous. So while I was on lunch break today and waiting for some bubble tea, I took photos while there was still some natural light.

I love this color, and I think I might keep it on forever. It's not just a keeper, it's a clinger.

Nail MADNESS: NerdLacquer - All of Time and Space

My beloved NerdLacquer is back! Yee! I'm going to put an order in for at least one of the Firefly polishes after I get paid this week, so there will be that to look forward to. But for the last four days, I've been wearing what is (thus far) my favorite of her stuff: All of Time and Space. I love Doctor Who, and I love this polish. It's starting to have some tip wear which I'm sure you can see in these photos, but it's so stunning - do you blame me for not taking it off?
You see how pretty that is in the bottle? It's ridiculous! I was nervous about putting it on, because I didn't know if it would hold up on my nails. There's nothing worse than the unfufilled promise of a gorgeous in-bottle polish looking like a hot streaky glitter clump on one's nails. Fortunately, this polish delivers.

Why yes, that's my family in the background. Don't plan on stalking, that photo's about fifteen years old. |
You can see why I went a little picture happy. It's a gorgeous light teal creme with silver and purple microglitter, and then just for fun some purple and silver hex glitter of various sizes. To get this level of opacity, I used three coats on top of China Glaze Strong Adhesion Basecoat with a coat of Julep Fast Dry topcoat. (My Seche Vite has gone to goopytown, alas.)
I'm getting a manipedi on Wednesday, so I'm sure you'll see a new nail post soon. Along with some sore cuticles; the ladies there apparently think my fingers are terrible and should be punished.

NerdLacquer and the Vet

No, these things are totally unrelated. But I was at the vet today, taking my adorable cat Isolde in to see if she had ear mites, and while I waited for the test to come back, I thought I'd take a picture of my nail polish.
(This is the vet, obviously. I loved how old school the color scheme was, and sue me, I was bored. You can't tell, but there's a seven pound cat in that carrier. She was trying to be very small.)
But yes! In the terrible lighting of the vet's office, I decided to take photos of my nails. I'm wearing NerdLacquer, an Etsy nail polish. I know what you're thinking. "Nail polish on Etsy? I'm dubious about this idea! Also, I would like nachos." And I agree with you on all counts. But NerdLacquer makes awesome polishes, in colors that you've likely never seen before. They're reasonably priced, and they're a dream to apply.
This picture is all of the NerdLacquer polishes, as taken from their Etsy site. They're currently only selling their holiday colors, due to Christmas depleting their stock, but they're working on making more. The below pictures are of Warrior Ethos (which is the fourth from the left in the top row in the above mega picture).
Now, I normally hate reds. And I normally loathe glitters (they're a pain in the ass to get off!). But look at that. It really does look like blood - it's more like a red jelly with glitter suspended in it. And the glitter's a mix of silver microglitter, some silver hex glitter, and some fine black glitter. BLACK. GLITTER. It's like a song written just for me, like a poem on the wind. Have there ever been two better words put together than black glitter? I didn't think so. And come on, it's Klingon polish, I had to buy it. I'm weak that way. And for those of you who worry about those sorts of things, the cat is fine. I thought she had ear mites, but she just has ear wax. Yay!
